Referencing

Please please please make sure you include the reference in your notes or I will literally be crazy when sorting out the notes on Saturday

Below is an example of proper referencing, following the Harvard system:

Akyol, D. E., Tuncel, G., and Bayhan, G. M., 2005. A comparative analysis of activity-based costing and traditional costing. World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology, 3(11), pp.44-47

- 1) Make notes when reading. The notes should be a summary of useful arguments for our essay. They need to be categorised

- 2) Once we have turned all materials into summarised and categorised points, we then collate the different points and structure it to become an essay.

- 3)The points should include references. (which book this point is from, and from which page.)

Making notes:

Format
This is just some examples as there will be other points that dont fall under the below categories.
In that case just make a new category, so things are sorted and neat and is ready to be chucked into an essay and then turned into proper words.

Referencing + journal searching
When people write books, they read journals. Books are almost just a summary of all the journals, so for most of the times when there is an idea in the book, it will have a journal for it. Try to find the original journal whenever possible, and only reference the book if the journal couldn't be found. This doesn't mean reading all the journals in the world, but at least locate the original work and reference it in our essay.
